2) Queer Lens: A History of Photography (through September 28)

3) Select an exhibition at the Getty that you were particularly interested in, and discuss why it impacted you.

4) Read Chapter 7 (pages 201-227): "Creating Community" from Your Brain on Art, and write about the most significant ideas advanced in this chapter. (everyone does this including the people who do the alternative museum trips).

This is the only thing due Wednesday. Please work on this.

Submission requirements:

PDF format with proper Chicago citations (footnotes + bibliography)

alternative option

Alternatively, if you'd like to drop your lowest grade please complete the extra credit assignment (this can also be for unexcused absences):

For clearing unexcused absences:

If you have missed a lot of classes, with unexcused absences throughout the quarter, then you should do these assignments to clear them. As you know, 3 or more unexcused absences will result in failing the class.

However, if you had emergencies, and can provide me with a note from your doctor, from Student Health, or from your CAPS, DSP, CARE Counselor (for the specific dates in question)– then those absences will be excused.

These are not extra credit assignments to improve your grade. These papers are due no later than Friday, August 1 by 6:00 PM. Submit them to Emily via email.

To clear unexcused absences: Watch the recorded Arts Colloquium Artist Talks found below, and write a 2-page Artist Talk response. Each talk and written assignment clears a single absence. Therefore, if you need to clear more than one absence you will need to do more than one of these assignments.

You may submit up to 3 assignments total:

1) Tia-Simone Gardner: Recorded Talk
2) Nicholas Galanin: Recorded Talk
3) Alisha Wormsley: Recorded Talk
